MENS 1ST XI VERSUS DIDSBURY PLAYED AT ANSDELL ARENA WON 4-2

Lytham started this match superbly, and dominated the first 15 minutes, with lots of passing and movement, which made hockey seem easy. Early on they were awarded a penalty corner, and the move worked perfectly, with Tom Atkinson's pass finding Dave Hans' stick for another goal from this move. Lytham went further ahead when Atkinson turned from provider to scorer with a well taken goal marking another good performance at left midfield. After this goal, Lytham started to relax until half time but still managed to keep the opposition attacks comfortably at bay. The second half began like the first, with more excellent hockey played by everyone. A carbon copy of Dave Hans' first goal saw him add his second, then Craig Nuttall calmly finished to make the score comfortable. However, Lytham switched off after this and allowed Didsbury back into the game when they scored two goals. Lytham ended the game well however, when a string of attacking moves came close to adding to the scoreline. Another excellent win makes it 3 on the run. Next week Lytham play League leaders Wigan and hope to continue their winning streak.

MENS 2ND XI VERSUS MANCHESTER UNI PLAYED AT MANCHESTER LOST 6-0

Lytham put in a lacklustre performance and lost badly to a Manchester team who were without a win in eight matches. Lytham failed to convert two early chances and Manchester scored soon after when the defence failed to put the ball out of danger after a goal saved by Danny Horne. Two goals followed from Manchester in the first half and another 3 were added in the second. Despite losing so badly, new boy Matt Greenhill showed potential playing at right midfield.

MENS 3RD XI VERSUS DEESIDE RAMBLERS PLAYED AT STANLEY PARK LOST 3-0

Lytham started well but saw them go 1-0 down after an unusual short corner goal from Deeside. The strikers shot looped over goalkeeper Joe Craig and just managed to hit the backboard. Deeside doubled their lead before the break but this game was by no means one sided. During the second half, Lytham pressed and harried the opposition throughout, but were caught on the break. After Joe Craig expertly saved a well struck shot, the deflection found a Deeside player who made the score 3-0. Lytham played well, but could not convert their half chances unlike Deeside. Joe Craig played well in goal throughout and made some good saves to keep the score respectable.

MENS 4TH XI VERSUS WARRINGTON PLAYED AT WARRINGTON LOST 2-0

Lytham began well, staging many attacks and forcing a number of good saves from the Warrington keeper. Mark Wilkinson played well, supporting the two dominant attackers, but this early pressure did not produce goals. Lytham could have been trailing at half time but for a superb reaction save from defender Mark Lilley. In the second half, Lytham's determination depleated and despite Andy Pothecary and Matt Harwood thwarting Warrington attacks, they were made to pay when the opposition scored twice in quick sucession. Lytham had to push forward, but breaks from midfield by Simon Gardiner did not reap the rewards Lytham wanted.

BADGERS XI VERSUS CHEETHAM HILL PLAYED AT ANSDELL ARENA LOST 3-2

Lytham started strongly and fought throughout, and took the lead when Michael Satterthwaite scored from the edge of the D. Lytham's superior skills and approach play bridged the gap between them and their bigger opponents, but they conceded a 'soft' goal after a misunderstanding in defence. Keeper Stuart Craig made some great saves and full backs Taylor and Benson were outstanding. Despite attacking pressure in the second half, Lytham saw themselves go 3-1 down after conceding two goals on the break. Lytham continued to attack and Robinson, Walsh and Bowker combined well with a series of passing moves. Griffiths slotted home Lytham's second and were unfortunate not to draw when Edwards hit the post just before the end.

SECOND XI VERSUS BLACKPOOL PLAYED AT ANSDELL ARENA WON 4-1

In an end to end game, Lytham ran out 4-1 winners in another super performance. Amy Leach put Lytham in front early on, but then the game settled down, with both teams playing good attacking hockey. Smart goal keeping by Lisa Brown prevented an equaliser, and Lytham took their lead to half time. After the break, Lytham were eager to build on their excellent play during the first half and Leach added her second from a goal mouth scramble. Kelly Gore drove the third goal home after a near perfect attack from Lytham. Then Jenny Leng added the fourth to wrap up an excellent team performance.
