Lytham walk tall after holding the Ramblers
NUTTALL scored a late equaliser to earn Lytham Men's first team a creditable 2-2 draw at second-placed Deeside Ramblers.
Lytham got off to a great start and after five minutes were awarded a penalty corner. Tom Atkinson's incisive pass made an easy deflection for David Hans.
However, Deeside came back strongly scored twice before the break, punishing defensive mistakes.
LSA were having their best game of season, and for most of the second half honours were just about even.
Daf Jones gave another good performance in goal, producing a number of smart saves. With ten minutes to go and defeat glaring them in the face, Lytham stepped up a gear and the in-form Nuttall levelled from another penalty corner.
They can take confidence easing to their first win of the season, a 7-0 triumph against a depleted Wilmslow side.
Graham Shaw opened the scoring early on, flicking over the grounded keeper from short range. The home side passed the hall about well.
Wilmslow helped them with an own goal before Gavin Gettings scored the first of his hat-trick. The day before he had captained the Royal Navy under-23 team against the Army and RAF.
Gettings scored twice more in the second half, either side of a Rob Davis strike.
After continual pressure, Dave Burns added the finishing touch to one of the brightest moves of the match.
To visit Chester, the most powerful side in the league, with an under strength team was asking for trouble ... and Lytham thirds got it, losing 8-0.
Chester are a very competitive and skilful side, who recently played in division two of the Welsh League. They also included a first team player recovering from injury.
LSA were only 1-0 down at half-time thanks to several good saves from Joe Craig in goal.
However, Chester's super fitness and overall superiority saw them rattle in seven second half goals.
Playing at Kirkham, Lytham fourths opened the scoring after just 22 seconds but were ultimately pegged back to 2-2 by Oxton.
A well-worked move was finished superbly by Mike Gannon. Despite Lytham's efforts, Oxton's experience proved too much and they equalised with a fine penalty corner routine.
Lytham retaliated and Danny Cottier-Brown slammed home a good goal before Oxton levelled again just before half- time.
The second half was well contested, with both teams struggling to create chances. Oxton were awarded a penalty stroke which Lytham keeper Matt Harwood saved.
Man of the match was Tim Killick at right mid-centre. The young Stuart Waby also showed he's got a bright future.
Lytham ladies 1st team went 2-0 up at preston, only to crash 4-2.
A great strike from a penalty co by Rachael Parziale gave Lytham the lead and Lian Atkinson added a second following great play by Ruth Blackburn. However, the home side came storming back to win.
Lytham ladies 2nd team won 4-0 at home to Lancaster thirds, with all goals coming in the second half.
Kelly Gore, playing at right mid-centre, set up plenty of chances. Liza Lopez scored twice as did Lian Atkinson, with great support play from Kim Sharples and Lorna Leach. Good defensive play kept Lancaster at bay.
Lytham ladies 3rd team lost 8-0 against Lancaster, though keeper Fran McNichol did well in goal. Gill Hutt and Jane Cooper worked hard at centre back sweeper respectively, while Joanne Currie never stopped running.
