Thirds draw with league leaders Bowden

Lytham Mens 3rd

Lytham thirds earned a creditable 2-2 draw in their rearranged North West Junior Division Three match against league leaders Bowden fifths at Ansdell Arena - although they were disappointed to concede a last gasp equaliser. A goal down at half time Lytham stepped up a gear in the second half with Rob Davis, David Bleasdale, Paul Burnett and Gavin Roberts controlling the midfield well supported by David Burns and Anton Wright at sweeper. First Martin Currie and then Rob Davis put them 2-1 up. As a penalty corner was awarded right as the final-whistle was blown the corner had to be completed and Bowden scored their late leveler. The defense worked tirelessly throughout especially Man of the Match Anton Wright.

Lytham Mens 4th

Lytham fourths lost 1-0 in their home friendly against Daton. Lytham had 90 per cent of the game with Gareth Gettings marshalling the middle and giving both wings plenty of the ball. Young David Waby worked well on the left -with several good penetrating runs. But they conceded the only goal of the game following a Daten breakaway. Lytham renewed their attacks in the second half with Tim Killick and Mike Gannon working tirelessly to produce a goal but even the awarding of a penalty stroke went begging as the Daten goalkeeper saved Waby's flick shot.

Lytham Badgers

Lytham Badgers firsts went down 4-1 at home to Timperley. Andy Taylor and James Benson the two full backs worked tirelessly in defense, Benson saving one shot on the line. But they could not prevent Timperly taking a 3-0 half time lead. Ben Currie came on to control the midfield in the second half. And in the final quarter of the game they were awarded several penalty corners, one resulting in Andy Robinson scoring with a powerful shot from the edge of the circle. Both Robinsons, Andy and Johnny worked hard as did Nick Little and Ashley Walsh, Henry Thompson had several good runs. All the Lytham lads showed tremendous courage against a more powerful side.

Gore's a winner as Nelson are bushwhacked

Lytham Womens 1st

Kelly Gore it a hat-trick on her first team debut as Lytham Ladies 'moved into the fourth round of the Lishman Cup with a 6-1 win at Nelson seconds. A bright start saw Gore score her first goal. But this was quickly equalised by Nelson from a penalty corner. A spell of good play from Lytham was countered by a good breakaway goal from Nelson to take the lead. Gradually Lytham got good control of the middle of the park with Gore and Michelle Singleton linking up well. And shortly afterwards Gore equalised. Ruth Blackburn then converted a penalty corner before player of the match Singleton scored a great individual goal. Jenny Leng put the result beyond doubt, and Gore completed her hat trick just before the final whistle.
