LYTHAM men's first team
exited the Lancashire Cup at the quarter-final stage, losing 6-0 to a strong
Formby side.
Chris
Kay, Chris Simcock and Dave Hans all played well and Lytham held their hosts to
0.0 at half-time before the flood. gates opened.
On
Saturday they had hit their opponents for six in a convincing 6-1 home win
against Neston.
Two
goals from Craig Nuttall sandwiching a Dave Robbins penalty stroke, meant Lytham
had virtually ensured victory by half-time.
More
pressure brought a goal from Chris Hadley from a narrow angle. Hans then
produced a moment of brilliance, beating several players before calmly
reverse-sticking the ball over the keeper and into the net.
Lytham seconds started
slowly after a slow journey to St Helens and were soon 2-0 down to a fast and
aggressive team.
When
the motorway jet lag disappeared Lytham played well, creating several chances
and a Doug Green goal from a penalty corner
Lytham thirds lost
1-0 at Alderley Edge. The visiting keeper kept his side in the game but Lytham
have only themselves to blame.
Lythain fourths won
4-2 at Bebbington to enhance their chances of climbing away from the bottom.
After
15 minutes, Mike Gannon, scored the first of a hat-trick after Tim Killick and
Steve Poole had combined well.
The
second half saw Poole and Jake Lavin showing pace and determination on the
flanks. Another good pass from Killick left Gannon with only the keeper to beat
for his second goal.
Captain
Kevan Waby did well to control the 'whippet' he was marking before the Killick-Gannon
combination produced the latter's hat-trick.
Lytham
fifths won
3-1 at Urmston. New player Paul
Harrison scored after a very good move with Peter Maguire.
Lytham Badgers lost
2-1 at home to Morecambe. Keith
Stone gave Lytham the lead with his second goal in two matches.
Matthew Edwards, Keiron Griffiths and William Bowker all went close.
Unfortunate
Lytham Ladies first team
meet holders Garstang in next round of the Lancashire Central League Lishman Cup
after a deserved 1-0 at Southport.
In
Lytham Ladies seconds’ 1-1 draw at Rossall, keeper Lisa Brown and sweeper Lorna
Leach kept home side at bay.
In
the second half, a long ball from Brenda Lanigan led to a reverse-stick pass
from Jo Martyn Clark to Jenny Leng, who flicked the ball home.
Jane Kelly, Joanna Curry and Lisa Lopez all did well.
